Here in Japan we notice an increasing number of people living alone, and it has been nice if you enjoy independent lifestyles and focus on the value of privacy. On the other hand, people are increasingly seeking  connections to other people and sharing quality time together .

Our company, Link Fuchu, strongly believes we need to create a space where people can get to know and help each other, or just have a fun time together despite gender, occupation, nationalities or disabilities.

In 1926, the first year of Showa, my great grandfather built a traditional wooden house for his family .

The house has been kept from generation to generation for 96 years. Although it was not easy to keep and maintain the house over the years, the family knew it was important to preserve their family history.

About 50 years ago my grandfather faced the risk to lose the home because the main public road in front of the house had expansion needs and half of the house was demolished. In spite of the loss, he strongly believed he needed to keep the rest of his old house as much as possible, so decided to move the remainder of the house to the backyard.

After my grandparents passed away, the house has been vacant for many years, but my mother continued to remain dedicated to maintaining the house. Thanks to her hard work the house remained in relatively good condition.

Now that she is getting old and it has become difficult for her to maintain the house, I feel I also need to do my best to conserve the house.

Since this house is not practically suitable for everyday living, I decided to open the house to the public to showcase the lifestyle of the Showa era.

Although it's unclear if we can afford to maintain the house in the future, I really want to do everything within my means to keep it now.

I believe by opening up the house to the public, people can get in touch with the lives in the Showa era while the house will feel happy to welcome new visitors.
